Detailed Description
Indigenous Peoples Task Force (IPTF) provides culturally sensitive HIV case management, support services, educational materials, HIV testing and prevention programs for adolescents and adults. Peer education available for Native Americans in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Specific programs include:

HIV Case Management provided from a Native American perspective. Case manager assists individuals living with HIV in accessing needed programs and resources including health insurance, medical care, employment, housing and financial assistance in order to maintain health and meet basic living needs. In addition, case managed clients can participate in occasional arts and crafts opportunities to explore their identities as Native people. Clients can attend Talking Circles led by a Native elder or spiritual leader. Talking Circles involve prayer, cleansing, and a time for participants to share their lives with others.

Housing Program offering a small community consisting of 14 housing units that provide affordable housing to people living with HIV or people with disabilities and their families. There are various unit sizes, ranging from efficiency studios to 4-bedroom units. Residents must have an HIV case manager and meet income guidelines in order to apply for the program. All units are wheelchair-accessible. Residents pay all utility bills, plus 30% of gross income as rent. Individuals do not need to be a current client of IPTF in order to apply for the housing program.

HIV Testing using both the OraSure test (oral swab) and OraQuick (finger prick) tests. Offered by appointment only. No ID is requested, and there is no fee for testing. IPTF staff will also meet clients in the community, to conduct HIV tests.

Two Spirit Risk Reduction Program offering wellness and HIV prevention services specifically designed for Native American men who have sex with men. The program offers outreach activities; monthly social events; HIV education presentations at schools, pow wows, and health fairs. "Being Brave, Being Gay" support group helps gay Native men in their struggle to overcome homophobia, racism, and identity issues.
